We are a mass transit startup, a small group of like-minded people trying to re-think urban mass transit solutions.

Historically, in the last 70 or so years, mass transit has only been funded, financed, owned and operated by public authorities. In some urban centres which are growing exponentially, public funds are limited or non-existing, putting them in a situation where the existing mass transit facilities cannot be properly maintained or expanded or new facilities cannot be developed.

This puts the urban centres at the risk of unmanageable traffic congestion, slow-down of economic activity, financial costs of traffic jams, and other significant issues.

Having said that, along with these potential risks, there is also an opportunity for private investment to come in and fill in the funding gap. We, at Start22, Inc., are developing business models for private rapid transit and commuter rail networks.
